3 Inspiring Sons…and their Little Sister »

Much to be thankful for.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We started a new tradition this year. Each of my sons chose a pie that he wanted to make. And we made them.

Jacob chose pecan pie. We used Pioneer Woman’s recipe. {I hope you know Ree. She’s a regular member of the family around here. Sam was just talking about her today. He was suggesting that his dad just might be as good a cook as that Pioneer Woman. That’s pretty high praise.} And when I say we used Pioneer Woman’s recipe, what I really mean is Jacob used her recipe. Start to finish it was his doing. And it was yummy!

Sam chose key lime pie. Again we turned to Ree. She lent us a fabulous recipe that Jake and Sam whipped up together. They like key lime pie so much they made two of them.

Josh made chocolate cream pie. We couldn’t find a recipe on Ree’s own blog, and so we turned to her recipe site Tasty Kitchen. We found a decadent recipe with an Oreo crust (double stuffed even), chocolate pudding, cream cheese, cool whip, and Heath Bars. My. Oh. My. It was divine!

I made pumpkin pie and Jake made cheesecake.

It’s safe to say there was no lack of dessert tonight.

Turkey either. Jake found a 30 pound turkey at the commissary. Look at the size of this thing! It barely fit in the roasting pan. We’ll be eating turkey all week.

We had all the usual fare and our refrigerator is packed with leftovers. We had wonderful friends over to share the holiday and really it couldn’t have been any nicer.

Last night after the pies were prepared, we played Rumikub. Jake and Sam were on a team.

Miss B played with cars in her high chair. {Note to self: Buy the girl some Barbies!}

Dad and Sam used strategy.

And it worked.

I am thankful for many things.

But my family tops the list. I am truly blessed.

Thank you to all my wonderful family and friends. I’m thankful that you take the time to check in with me to see what I’m up to. I wish we had been able to spend today together!
